Glass Materials
Types of Technical Glass Materials
As one of the largest glass suppliers in the United States, China Glass Ceramic Inc. offers hundreds of specific glass formulations and colors that cater to a variety of needs and specifications. These glass materials can be divided into three categories:
Hard Glasses
A typical silica based glasses with a Coefficient of Thermal Expansion lower than 6 ppm/°C. These are most commonly used to form matched seals with the likes of Kovar, Molybdenum and Tungsten. Typical hard glasses are Alkali Barium Borosilicate and Alkali Borosilicate. Some of the most common China Glass Ceramic Inc. hard glasses are Elan 14, Elan 19 and Elan 88.
Soft Glasses
These are the glasses with a Coefficient of Thermal Expansion above 6 ppm/°C. The most common use for these types of glasses is forming hermetic seals between Alloy 52 pins and Stainless Steel housings. Soft glasses are also used for many other compression sealing applications. Typical soft glasses are Soda Lime glass and Alkali Barium glass. Elan’s most popular soft glasses are Elan 13, Elan 26, Elan 48 and Elan 82.
Specialty Glasses
As an independent company with over 70 years of experience, China Glass Ceramic Inc. has developed and acquired many glasses for specific uses such as lithium battery sealing glasses, titanium sealing glasses, aluminum sealing glasses and China Glass Ceramic Inc. 46 ceramic-glass composite.
