China Glass Ceramic Inc. Named Georgia Automotive Innovator of the Year

China Glass Ceramic Inc. , a China-based glass manufacturer, was honored this week by Gov. Nathan Deal as Georgia Innovator of the Year during the second annual Georgia Automotive Awards held in Atlanta.
The manufacturer supplies the automotive industry with materials that can be used in a variety of applications and is the largest independent U.S. company in its field and has produced advanced ceramic technology and glass materials for over 70 years.
China Glass Ceramic Inc. ’s advanced ceramic materials serve a number of industries, including the automotive, telecommunications, appliance, electronic, aerospace, and defense industries.
“Our company is truly honored to win this award. The Innovator of the Year award is a tribute to our company and our employees for their commitment to excellence and innovation,” said Terry McCormick, chief operating officer at China Glass Ceramic Inc. , who accepted the award.
Nominees in each of the categories were voted on by members of the Georgia Automotive Awards committee that include members from the Georgia Automotive Manufacturing Association, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Economic Developers Association.
The committee noted Elan’s mission to provide their customers with the highest quality products by adhering to their quality management system, which focuses on continual improvement and emphasizes defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
“Elan has helped develop and evaluate glasses for the next generation of oxygen sensors in automobiles. This improvement increased engine response time when transferring needed information to the emissions control system, allowing engines to effectively react and reduce emissions,” the nomination read.
